Statement of Need: This activity was developed in March 1994 in response to the Urology Specialist’s need to keep abreast of advances and new developments in Urology. Dr Donald Deye, Medical Director, Oakstone Medical Publishing, and other practitioners surveyed the opinions of colleagues and practitioners and agreed on the following: (1) Urology specialists must maintain skills and competency; (2) The medical journals are a fertile source of new information, which however, is too diverse and voluminous to be effectively used by most busy clinicians; (3) Urology specialists need a timesaving way to more effectively use the peer-reviewed reports that appear in the journals; (4) The use of this audiotape is a practical source of education medicine; (5) Provide clinical updates for practicing medical specialists and generalists; (6) Update practicing physicians’ fundamental knowledge base; (7) Identify for the practicing physician new and innovative health care concepts; (8) Demonstrate for the practicing physician new technological and therapeutic advancements.

Intended Audience: Urologists and Residents-in-Training interested in Urology.

Special Prerequisites for Participants: There are no prerequisites for participants.

Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this program, the participant will:

  • Be able to assess their knowledge of urology.
  • Have participated in a valuable learning experience that should add significantly to their store of knowledge.
  • Improve their quality of care delivered to their patients.
  • Know the strengths and weaknesses in urology upon review of the personalized Participant Profile.
