Presented by the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, The Family Medicine Board Review Course provides a review of common problems encountered in primary care. The format is designed to help prepare eligible candidates for the American Board of Family Medicine examination. The percentage of time devoted to different specialty areas in the program parallels that of the ABFM exam. Presentations will cover a broad range of important clinical information in a board review format. A syllabus with outlines of all lectures as well as extensive ABFM style questions and answers is given to attendees.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
  • Be prepared for the ABFM certification and recertification examinations.
  • Improve their recognition and management of common inpatient and outpatient family practice issues such as diseases of neonates and children, dermatologic problems, diabetes, hypertension, peptic ulcer disease and hepatitis, angina, dementia and stroke, musculoskeletal problems and medical and surgical emergencies.
  • Refine their approach to the use of antibiotics and the treatment of sexually transmitted diseases.
  • Develop an understanding of obstetrics and office gynecology.
